Tea Time

Navigate my site easily through my site map

Here we'll try to bring you the elegant, genteel feeling of days past when people and life was more leisurely and peaceful.  If you haven't tried having an afternoon tea, for you alone, or with best friends you really should at least once, you'll thoroughly enjoy it.  Perhaps, as we fill this section, we can also bring you tea party ideas and even add recipes for things that were served at an afternoon tea, finger food, scones, biscuits, muffins, cakes, pastries and much more.  Come look, you'll find unique tea pots, unusual tea pots, tea cups, tea and toast settings, pots and cups for chocolate, demitasse cups, individual sugar bowls and creamers along with individual serving teapots and cups.  Look at our selection of crystal creamers and sugars, elegant tea cups and saucers, all kinds of pretty pots, even mini tea sets.  We also have vintage tea, chocolate and coffee pots. We have (and are adding to regularly) so many things to browse through, bringing back the calmer more serene and tranquil days of the past.  Afternoon tea (or Low tea) is a light meal typically eaten at 4 o'clock.  It originates in the United Kingdom, though various places in the former British Empire also have such a meal.  Traditionally, loose tea would be served in a teapot with milk and sugar.  This would be accompanied by various sandwiches (customarily cucumber, egg and cress, fish paste, ham, and smoked salmon), scones (with butter, clotted cream and jam) — and usually cakes, cookies and pastries.  The food would be often served in a tiered stand. While afternoon tea used to be an everyday event, nowadays it is more likely to be taken as a treat in a hotel, café, or tea shop, although many Britons still have a cup of tea and slice of cake or chocolate at teatime.  In 1922 Emily Post wrote that servants should not enter the room during afternoon tea except if summoned to bring fresh hot water or remove soiled dishes, so as not to interrupt the intimate nature of the gathering and its conversation.
